Syd Young, Artist, Relics & Rails artist:

“It’s been a real privilege to have had the first ever exhibition at Nordic House. When I first visited the venue I was immediately taken with the 1950s-style Scandinavian decor and feel. I realised that here was an opportunity to show my “Relics and Rails” exhibition in some unusual, but stylish surroundings which perfectly complemented the content.

The location is excellent, a good, central position in Hull and virtually next door to the main transport hub at Paragon Interchange.

There is plenty of space available on the ground floor along with another upstairs room which can either be used as additional exhibition space or for hosting talks or other events. There are catering facilities available, along with a lovely outside area.

The people running Nordic House are enthusiastic and extremely helpful. Although this was their first venture, I was impressed with how keen they were to help promote the show and the Manager Charlotte provided plenty of encouragement, ideas and support throughout the duration of my exhibition. I cannot thank her enough for all her help.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the experience of exhibiting at Nordic House and would definitely use the space again. It’s, which is ideal for exhibitions, meetings, talks and small music events. Several visitors to the show complimented the surroundings, saying they gave a spectacular backdrop to the pieces on display.

Many thanks again for allowing me to use the space and for all your help in producing another successful exhibition for me.”

Emma Hardy:, MP for Hull West and Hessle:

“We’ve used Nordic House for a few of our events. It’s such a welcoming place in a central location which is easy to get to, so ideal for us to bring together the general public, the business community and others from our constituency.”

Debbie Darmody, chair and co-leader of Hull Community Voices:

“We sang at a choir festival in Nordic House before Covid. We took part with some other choirs and it was a very uplifting experience. We chose it as the venue for our 20th celebration because we do like the space here.”

“Nordic House is a valued contributor to our annual Heritage Open days programme with its intriguing history and its collection of fascinating artefacts. It also plays an important part as a venue for meetings and events, bringing people together in a welcoming space for cultural and community activities which all help to enrich our city and region.”

Harley Wears, who visited the Radical Book Fair

“I would like to thank the Danish Church and Nordic House for holding the bookfair on the 12th of August. I travelled down from County Durham. The event was very friendly and I enjoyed the day very much. I look forward to visiting again.”

Mike Johnston, Radical Book Fair organiser

“The book fair in Hull was a success with the venue being the perfect space. It’s a lovely building with fantastic facilities and we were made very welcome by Charlotte. It is spacious and light, with access to plenty of tables and chairs as well as use of the kitchen and with separate areas for talks. It was also a reasonable price and overall we would highly recommend it. We would definitely use it again and have already booked it for next year’s book fair.”

Nordic House proved to be the ideal venue for our presentation to tie in with the Heritage Open Day celebrations. On this occasion we adopted a drop-in format which worked extremely well in the informal surroundings. However it was very clear that the space is extremely adaptable and we definitely plan to use it when the time comes for us to make more formal presentations.
